04 Day Uganda Gorilla – Nyiragongo Hike

This 4 Day Uganda Gorilla and Nyiragongo Hike adventure takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for mountain gorilla trekking and Golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park, then to Gisenyi for overnight and transfer to Virunga National Park for Nyiragongo Hike Adventure.

Note: Please apply for a Multiple Visa that will allow you enter Rwanda as many times from other areas of your visit.

Day1: Kigali – Bwindi Forest National Park

Pick up from the hotel in Kigali after breakfast or Kigali Airport on arrival and proceed for a city tour in Kigali, visit Gisozi genocide memorial museum, lunch and later drive to Southern Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in south western Uganda, that inhabits more than half of world’s last remaining population of mountain gorillas with over 480 gorillas.

The journey goes through wonderful majestic rolling hills that characterize much of Rwanda, enter Uganda through Katuna boarder, proceed through rolling hills, deep valleys and winding roads of the Kigezi region; famously known as the Switzerland of Africa, check in Rushaga Gorilla Camp for dinner and overnight. Day2: Gorilla Trek – Gisenyi

Take an early morning breakfast ready with your hiking boots, rain gears, sun glasses, skin repellent, a hut, lunch box and drinking water, proceed to the park headquarters for briefing about the gorilla rules and the forest. The rangers will then accompany you to the starting point of your trek to search for the gentle giants. The en-counter tends to take 2 to 8 hours depending on the gorilla movements and one hour is availed to you to have a direct touch with the gorillas.

Trekking can involve some rigorous climbing and hiking, but then when you look straight face to face in the eyes of a mountain gorilla, all the fatigue is gone, observing them for 1 hour just a few meters from you is a great experience of a lifetime. Mountain gorillas are always welcoming with silver back beating a little of his chest to demonstrate his might and also welcoming to you to the group. The young gorillas are very playful and are at times not aware of the 7m rule thus can try to draw closer to even touching on your body. After your one hour with gorillas, we transfer to Gisenyi through Cyanika boarder dinner and overstay at Discover Guest House, Gisenyi. Meal plan: F/B

Nyiragongo hike in DRC CongoDay3: Goma – Nyiragongo Volcano Hiking Tour

Early breakfast and at 6.45 am transfer to Goma border with packed bags ready for the hike to the summit of Nyiragongo, the drive will take you to Kibati, which is the starting point for our hike that 7 – 8 hours to the top depending on the hiking speed of the members in the group, dinner and overnight stay on top in the Mountain Shelter Wooden Cabins. Meal plan: F/B

Note: When you travel with us we offer you Mikeno package which includes packed breakfast, lunch, water, chief to prepare your dinner on top and all you need for overnight stay at the top of the summit. But please bring hiking shores, long sleeved pants and shirts, get a porter at $ 24 USD and walking stick at $ 5 USD and you can get all these at the starting Kibati point.

Day4: Descend Nyiragongo – Goma – Transfer Kigali

Early morning breakfast and after descend down the mount and this takes 4 – 5 hours and when you reach the Kibati starting point the Virunga jeep will be waiting for you and transfer you to Goma and upon arrival our company driver will be waiting for your on the Rwanda side and after you clearing with both customs transfer to Lunch, after transfer to Kigali. Transfer to the airport for your night flight back home. End of services
