Gorilla Doctors began as a one-veterinarian clinic after renowned primatologist Dian Fossey was concerned that the world’s 248 mountain gorillas were at risk for life-threatening snare-related injuries. Today, powered by the non-profit Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Program, Inc. and the UC Davis Wildlife Health Center.

Gorilla Doctors’ international team of 12 veterinarians work tirelessly in Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to provide life-saving veterinary care to gravely injured and ill mountain and Grauer’s gorillas.

Mountain gorillas are now the only great ape species whose numbers in the wild are increasing, and the work of Gorilla Doctors has been a significant factor in this tremendous conservation success story.

Eco Tours Rwanda offers gorilla tours in Rwanda and arrange the visit to the Gorilla Doctors centre and this is at times done before enjoying the gorilla trek and give amazing talk about mountain gorillas in mist and you visit the gorillas later after with the full lecture about the great apes. Donor support like yours makes the work of the Gorilla Doctors possible. Your gift helps ensure the survival of the world’s remaining mountain and Grauer’s gorillas. Thank you for the critically important role you play in our work. If you are trekking gorillas in Rwanda, Uganda or Democratic Republic of Congo, we shall take you to one of our office and you experience the conservation work we do. We look forward to sharing future successes with you.
